I feel your pain. I dont write Johnlock in my stories. Nope. Never.

I also ship Johnlock. I read a lot of stories that have an equal mix of both pairings and they’re great! Even some that have had a minor side bit of Mystrade or Johnlock. It’s just annoying when you want to read something specific and have to go past a ton of other things to get to it. I wish the filtering system had had option of “Side pairing” to weed out the stories that are mainly Johnlock with a tiny bit of background Mystrade.

I really love what you’ve done with this. By the time I finished the video I was a bit desensitized to the whole concept but when I read it out like this it makes me really sad. A good sad that comes from reading something so well written. I shall eagerly wait for more.

Mycroft Holmes is still at university when he meets Detective Constable Greg Lestrade, a smiling flirt with a head full of prematurely grey hair. Mycroft doesn’t stand a chance.

Exerpt: Greg Lestrade is a strange man. He doesn’t seem to realise things that everyone else in Mycroft’s life has always accepted. He doesn’t understand that Mycroft’s aloofness is off-putting, that his intelligence is intimidating. That he is odd, abnormal, robotic, or any of the other things Mycroft is inevitably called. They talk over the telephone and Greg doesn’t seem put off by either the awkward silences or the rambling speechifying that tends to make up Mycroft’s side of conversations. He doesn’t seem put off by Mycroft’s vocabulary, and though he’s quick to ask what some words mean he always seems more amused than annoyed at the asking. He sits beside Mycroft in the cinema and sneaks his arm over halfway through the film to lay his hand over Mycroft’s, without the obvious realisation that Mycroft isn’t particularly touchable. He walks into restaurants to have dinner with Mycroft as if unaware that Mycroft Holmes is not a man to be shown off, to be proud of being seen with.

My Review: This is just an adorable Uni!verse Mystrade fic that grabbed me in the first paragraph and wouldn’t let go. It hits that perfect fluff-n-smutt point of sweet and sexy, and from Mycroft’s POV no less! Short and sweet, it’s 5,400 words of delicious first!time Mystrade.
